You should realize, though, that there are many different types of artists. Musicians, painters, bands, rappers, tattoo artists, and makeup artists are all creators. These creators produce different types of art, but they are art regardless of whether the product is a picture or poetry. Buying art can be expensive. Historic, famous artists have paintings that are often sold for millions of dollars. While few contemporary artists can sell their artwork for this much, they still must be compensated for the supplies, equipment, and time that they put into their creations. Artists often have to purchase clay for sculptures, spray paint for graffiti, makeup, tattoo ink, instruments, paint, canvases, pencils, pens, and other types of supplies. Musicians who play in bands can often sell their recordings for small amounts of money because the music business distributes their music to large numbers of consumers. This reduces the amount of money that individual consumers have to spend on the music. Graphic artists, though, usually do not produce large numbers of their works. Some graphic artists only make one painting that they sell at a time instead of making several copies that could be sold at lower prices. If you need to purchase artwork from a company, contact them and ask what types of art they deal with. Ask them if they have a gallery that displays the work so that you can see it in person. You should also find out how much their pieces cost so that you will know if you can afford them.
